M Hotel Singapore is developed by Millennium Hotels and Resorts, which is a subsidiary of City Developments Limited (CDL), a Singapore-listed global real estate company, according to Millennium Hotels and Resorts. Initially, the property was acquired by Millennium Hotels & Resorts and known as Copthorne Harbour View, before undergoing a renovation and rebranding as M Hotel Singapore in 2002, according to Business Traveller. 

The Studio M Hotel in Singapore, known for its loft-inspired design, was designed by Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni. The hotel is recognized as Singapore's first fully loft-inspired designer hotel. Piero Lissoni, known for his "total design" approach, aimed to create a modern refuge with chic accommodation and contemporary functionality. He envisioned each guest room as an urban-inspired loft with elevated ceilings, providing a unique city view. The hotel's design also incorporates lifestyle elements throughout its public areas, including a dedicated open-air tropical deck, a 25-meter lap pool, and an open-air gym.
