The Spicers Balfour Hotel Queensland Australia

Inner city Brisbane (capital city of Australia's northern most state, Queensland) may not be the first on the list of your must see getaway destinations, especially after the recent floods. However, if you are headed to there for a business trip, or in Australia and looking for a weekend away that will help the local economy I'd stay at the new Spicers Balfour Hotel in New Farm.

Just minutes from the CBD of Brisbane, this nine-room boutique hotel has something to offer every kind of traveller. The design of the hotel and colour palette employed throughout is not typical of tropical Queensland, which I kinda like. The hotel is appropriately urban and looks to me like it would feel more like staying in a very chic friends city pad. Each room has a 50" TV, Bose i-pod docking stations and a great mix of antique and modern furnishings.

Crown Metropol Melbourne, Australia

This outstanding project succeeds in creating intimate-scale boutique interiors in a large-scale hotel. This has been achieved by the designers through hand-crafted elements, unique detailing and the integration of carefully selected and diverse artworks in the guestrooms and public spaces alike, creating personality and individuality. The interior planning embraces the curvaceous architectural form and creates a journey for guests. Theessence of a boutique hotel experience is achieved as spaces are continually revealedto visitors with elegance, detail and delight. The layering of materials and finishes throughout the hotel is exemplary, and this is consistent within public and private spaces. Common areas are elegant but not intimidating, and guestrooms are serene and calming with personalized detailing.

Crown Metropol is a luxury hotel located in Melbourne, Australia. The hotel was designed by the architecture firm Bates Smart and opened in 2010.

The 28-story building features a sleek and modern design, with a façade of reflective glass and angular shapes. The hotel offers 658 guest rooms and suites, as well as a range of amenities including a rooftop pool, fitness center, spa, and several restaurants and bars.

Bates Smart's design for the Crown Metropol was inspired by the nearby Yarra River and the city's urban landscape. The building's glass façade reflects the changing colors of the sky and the river, creating a dynamic and ever-changing appearance. The use of angular shapes and sharp lines in the building's design was also intended to evoke the city's skyline.

Inside, the hotel features a sophisticated and contemporary design, with a color palette of black, white, and grey. The guest rooms and suites are spacious and luxurious, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the city.

Overall, the Crown Metropol is a stunning example of modern architecture and design, and offers a luxurious and stylish accommodation option for visitors to Melbourne.
