The Hotel Plaza Athénée Paris

The Hotel Plaza Athénée is a five-star luxury hotel located on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, France. The hotel is renowned for its elegant design, luxurious accommodations, and its prime location in the heart of Paris' fashion district.

Originally opened in 1911, the hotel underwent a significant renovation in the 1920s, which resulted in the Art Deco-inspired design that is still in place today. The hotel's iconic red geraniums adorning its balconies are a signature trade of the hotel.

In the 1990s, the hotel underwent another major renovation, which further enhanced the hotel's luxurious amenities and modern comforts while preserving the hotel's historic charm and signature design elements. The hotel features 188 guest rooms and suites, each meticulously designed with classic French touches and luxurious furnishings.

The design of the Hotel Plaza Athénée in Paris is credited to the famous French interior designer Jacques Garcia. Garcia is known for his opulent and theatrical style, which draws inspiration from a wide range of cultures and design periods.

For the Hotel Plaza Athénée, Garcia incorporated elements of Art Deco design, which was popular in the 1920s when the hotel was last renovated. He also incorporated elements of 18th-century French design, such as the neoclassical moldings and decorative motifs found throughout the hotel.

Garcia's design for the Hotel Plaza Athénée is known for its sumptuous fabrics, rich colors, and attention to detail. The hotel's public spaces, such as the lobby and restaurant, are designed to be grand and theatrical, providing a grandeur and sense of occasion to guests' stay at the hotel.

The Hotel Plaza Athénée was developed by the famous French hotelier Henry R. Joy, who was also responsible for the Hôtel de Crillon and the Ritz Paris. Joy purchased the property on Avenue Montaigne in 1911 and oversaw its transformation into the luxurious hotel that it is today.

After Joy's death in 1936, the hotel changed ownership several times before being acquired by the Dorchester Collection in 2013. Under Dorchester Collection's management, the Hotel Plaza Athénée has continued to maintain its reputation as one of the world's most luxurious hotels, attracting discerning travelers from around the globe.
