Developed and managed by IHG Hotels & Resorts, the property marks the debut of the design-forward Kimpton brand in Indonesia, introducing a new expression of luxury lifestyle hospitality to the region.
The visionary architecture and master planning were led by the renowned international firm Denton Corker Marshall. The core design philosophy serves as a contemporary spatial interpretation of Balinese ceremonial processions, translating the concepts of movement, rhythm, and collective energy into the guest's arrival and circulation flow. Rather than applying a generic resort aesthetic, the structural footprint and tiered terraces follow the natural contours of the hillside and river valley, creating an atmosphere that feels simultaneously monumental and intimate. The name "Suntaya"—blending the Sanskrit words Suniya (stillness) and Taya (vitality)—is physically manifested through a material palette of local stone and hand-carved woodwork, utilizing open-air corridors that entirely blur the boundaries between the refined interior spaces and the wild jungle exterior.
The resort encompasses 101 design-led guest rooms, suites, and private pool villas, characterized by freestanding tubs and private balconies framing valley views. The hospitality programming is anchored by five distinct dining destinations, most notably Imamura Ubud (an intimate omakase counter led by Michelin-starred Chef Hirofumi Imamura), the Shaku izakaya, Cascara, the Samana lounge, and the Pelago bar.
