The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan

The  Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan is located in the Qiantan District of Shanghai, a new central business district on the southern bend of the Huangpu River. Its address is 18 Linyao Road, Pudong, Shanghai, China, 200126. This location places it within a 10-minute drive of popular areas like The Bund and the Xintiandi Style Shopping Centre. The hotel is also conveniently situated for accessing other city landmarks, being 5.6 miles (8.9 km) from People's Square and 6.4 miles (10.3 km) from the Nanjing Road Shopping District. The positioning of the hotel in Qiantan provides panoramic views of the Huangpu River.

The design theory behind the
Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan
focuses on blending Shanghai's Art Deco heritage with a contemporary and tranquil aesthetic that reflects its dynamic riverfront location. The architecture, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), features a long, low structure that positions most rooms with expansive waterfront views, and the overall building forms are inspired by the flowing motion of water to create a memorable roofline for the Qiantan district.
The interiors, crafted by Cheng Chung Design (CCD), pay tribute to the city's modern-retro spirit and consular-era legacy. Key interior design elements include the reimagining of iconic brand motifs, such as the peacock, and the incorporation of sail-inspired details, celebrating Chinese craftsmanship and creating a distinct sense of place. The design achieves a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity, using refined detailing and a serene, light-colored palette to offer an urban oasis that allows guests to "switch off without disconnecting". The hotel integrates with the surrounding Qiantan Media Port development, connecting entertainment, retail, and office spaces with riverside parks and promenades to form a vibrant, yet peaceful, environment.

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan was thoughtfully designed by the architectural and interior design firm CCD / Cheng Chung Design. The hotel is part of the larger "Origin New Bund" project, for which the overall project design, encompassing the hotel and surrounding office buildings and commercial facilities, was handled by the internationally renowned architectural firm KPF (Kohn Pedersen Fox).
The architectural design of the hotel building itself is configured as a long, low bar, a deliberate choice that ensures 85% of the rooms have incredible waterfront views of the Huangpu River. This design is part of the larger Qiantan Media Port development, which aims to create a vibrant, connected urban ecosystem with a memorable roofline inspired by the motion of water. The interior design by CCD / Cheng Chung Design focuses on creating a serene urban retreat that embodies effortless luxury.

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan was developed as part of the larger Qiantan Media Port project, with the client and main developer identified as the LJZ Group (Shanghai Lujiazui Finance & Trade Zone Company, Shanghai Yaoti Industrial Development Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Lujiazhui Group). The hotel is operated by Hilton under its luxury Waldorf Astoria brand.
Opened in October 2025, the hotel is situated on the southern stretch of Shanghai's new Bund, on the banks of the Huangpu River. The overall architectural design for the Qiantan Media Port development was led by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), while the hotel's interior design was handled by Cheng Chung Design (CCD). The integrated development includes office, retail, and entertainment spaces, with the 204-room hotel and its 27 suites offering panoramic river views and private terraces, drawing design inspiration from Shanghai's Art Deco

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan features a total of 204 rooms and suites, each offering river views and private balconies. Amenities include a full-service spa, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, and event spaces for gatherings. The hotel boasts several distinct dining options, including the all-day dining restaurant Arame, which offers Mediterranean-inspired cuisine; Fu Cheng, a Chinese restaurant on the top floor serving refined Min cuisine by a Michelin-starred chef; the chef's table concept Starlight Room with an open kitchen and terrace; and the signature lobby lounge, Peacock Alley, which provides a vibrant setting for specialty coffees, seasonal teas, and creative desserts. The hotel also provides stylish spaces equipped for banquets and a ballroom.
