The Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, Germany
The Hotel Adlon Kempinski was not developed by Lorenz Adlon himself, as he was the founder of the original Hotel Adlon, which was demolished during World War II. The new Hotel Adlon Kempinski was developed by Hohe Hotel- und Gaststättenbetriebs AG and opened in 1997. The company responsible for the development was a consortium consisting of several German and international companies, including CPI Immobilien GmbH, ITM Interhotel GmbH, and Kempinski Hotels & Resorts. Thank you for pointing that out, and I apologize for any confusion caused.
The architectural design of the Hotel Adlon Kempinski's reconstruction was primarily led by the renowned German architectural firm, Patzschke, Gerlach & Partner (PGP), in collaboration with several other architects. The aim was to recreate the original grandeur and elegance of the historic Adlon Hotel that was destroyed during World War II. Patzschke, Gerlach & Partner and their team meticulously studied historical documents, photographs, and architectural plans to ensure accuracy in replicating the original design. The result is a faithful reconstruction of the Neoclassical-style facade, with its iconic domed entrance and grand columned exterior. The reconstruction also incorporated modern amenities and technology while preserving the historic charm of the original building.
The interior design of the Hotel Adlon Kempinski was mainly overseen by the British design firm, Trevillion Interiors, during its reconstruction and reopening in 1997. Trevillion Interiors worked in collaboration with other design firms and craftsmen to create a luxurious and refined interior that reflects the hotel's prestigious reputation. The interior design of the hotel blends contemporary elements with classic elegance and sophistication. The public areas, such as the lobby, restaurants, and lounges, feature a combination of sumptuous furnishings, intricate detailing, and sophisticated color schemes. The guest rooms and suites are designed to provide a luxurious and comfortable experience with high-quality materials, refined furniture, and modern amenities. Overall, the interior design of the Hotel Adlon Kempinski aims to create an atmosphere of timeless luxury.
