Depa 1202

The client required a NY Loft style apartment with as few dividing walls as possible, no ceilings and a chic-worn out look to it.

The conceptual basis was the NY city Loft style apartments which are open flexible spaces. The project was divided into two main areas, placing the master bedroom as the central piece. All the service areas, kitchen, washroom etc. were placed to the left as you enter the apartment so as not to take from the 12th floor breath taking view. This right wing of the apartment was set aside for the living and dining areas, as well as the master bedroom and bath.

The floors are made out of recycled tzalam wood, to create a worn out look. All the lights are LED technology lamps, to reduce environmental damage by reducing heat and UV radiations, also, LED lamps use up 70-90% less energy than traditional lighting. The walls were made out of gypsum and concrete board, because of the building’s regulations. To divide the public and private areas, there are glass sliding doors, which allow the space to be versatile.

The open kitchen interacts with the living area, was designed as a central component in the project, to be seen from every angle, therefore it couldn’t have any overhead compartments, so it has a built in storage in the back wall which is all white acrylic, the table tops are gray granite, keeping with the monochrome image of the whole design.

The living and dining areas are a central piece to the apartment. There is no ceiling so you can see the concrete slab. The floors are made of recycled Tzalam wood, to give a worn out look while adding warmth to the all-concrete space. The Onix cubes seen in the background, serve as side tables for the dining room as well as courtesy lights. All furniture was custom made for this project and every material used for them was carefully picked, keeping with the overall color scheme

The master bedroom is the central piece of the apartment. It is entered through the living room, using a sliding glass door for privacy. The head board is also the wall which divides the master bedroom from its bathroom. It is made out of white lacquered, perforated MDF and on the inside it has LED ultrathin LED strips to create a romantic and soothing atmosphere. The woods, lacquers and fabrics for the furniture and decoration were picked to create extra warmth in this resting space.

The main bathroom is entered through a walk-in closet with white lacquered furniture, a mid height concrete wall which supports the sinks on one side and a bench on the other. It is an all open bathroom with a Hansgroghe rain shower and a buried bathtub which is to be entered at floor level, it is surrounded by river stones and candles to create a spa-like feeling of peace and quiet. The perforated headboard-wall, allows daylight to enter the bathroom, creating an exotic looking environment on the inside. During night time the whole wall lights up the bathroom.
