The Hotel Indigo Bandung Dago Pakar's design theory is rooted in celebrating the unique local Sundanese culture and natural landscape of the Dago Pakar neighborhood. The core principle, consistent with the Hotel Indigo brand, is to immerse guests in an authentic local experience by weaving the essence of the surrounding area into every visual element of the hotel.

The architectural design of the
Hotel Indigo Bandung was a collaborative effort, with the exterior architecture designed by Architects 49 and the interior design handled by the Thailand-based firm P49Deesign. The design approach for the hotel focused on capturing the unique culture and natural beauty of the surrounding Dago Pakar neighborhood in Bandung. The building's design features a dynamic Art Deco influence with flowing, curved lines that seamlessly connect the exterior facade to the interior spaces, mimicking the natural landscape of the area. This thematic integration extends throughout the hotel

The Hotel Indigo Bandung Dago Pakar was developed through a partnership between IHG Hotels & Resorts (InterContinental Hotels Group PLC) and the Indonesian long-term partner, PT Hotel Dago Pakar. The Hotel Indigo brand is part of IHG's luxury and lifestyle portfolio, known for its philosophy of designing each property to reflect the unique culture, character, and history of its surrounding neighborhood.
Purnawan Suriadi, the director of PT Hotel Dago Pakar, noted that the vision for the property was to establish Dago Pakar as a must-visit destination that highlights the rich local culture intertwined with European influences from the colonial past, a vision that aligned well with the Hotel Indigo design philosophy. This collaboration follows the successful opening of the InterContinental Bandung Dago Pakar in 2015, which transformed the area into a popular luxury destination. The interior design for the hotel was handled by the Thailand-based firm, P49Deesign, which incorporated elements inspired by Bandung's natural landscape, such as misty mountains and waterfalls, and local cultural elements like batik patterns and cocoon-like structures that pay homage to Tangkuban Perahu.
