Da Nang Bay planning project
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), a globally renowned architectural firm, has reportedly engaged in a significant project at Da Nang Bay in Da Nang, Vietnam, marking its presence in this rapidly developing coastal city. Known for iconic designs like the Burj Khalifa and innovative urban planning, SOM’s involvement in the Da Nang Bay project aligns with the city’s ambition to become a leading tourism and economic hub in Southeast Asia. While specific details about the project’s scope, design, or timeline remain limited, SOM’s expertise in sustainable architecture and large-scale urban developments suggests a transformative impact on Da Nang’s skyline and waterfront, potentially integrating modern infrastructure with the area’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. This venture underscores Da Nang’s growing appeal for world-class architectural initiatives.
The Da Nang Bay planning project, notably the Thuan Phuoc New Urban Area, is being developed by Thuan Phuoc Bay Urban Investment JSC, with FUTA Land Real Estate JSC as the primary developer. This ambitious $445 million project, spanning 97.6 hectares in Son Tra district, aims to transform the bay into a modern, sustainable urban hub. Featuring a mix of low-rise and high-rise residential areas, riverside villas, commercial centers, 5-star hotels, a 16.5-hectare theme park, and a sea square, the development seeks to elevate Da Nang’s status as an international tourism and commercial destination. Approved in 2010 and revitalized in 2023, the project reflects Da Nang’s long-term vision for socio-economic growth and urban innovation.
